The Barrett's Space

The kids had their doctor's appointments this week.  Dylan had his 2 year check up and Taylor had her 6 month check up.  Dylan is 35 inches tall and 30 lbs.  Taylor is 25 inches and 15 lbs 9 oz.  The doctor said "I can tell by just looking at them that they are healthy kid!!"  She got a kick out of Taylor's big cheeks and thighs!!  All of the staff and nurses just think that we have the cutest kids (I think so too!!) and that I look like I could be their older sister.  I know I'll appreciate it some day!!

Can you believe that Dylan is 2!?!  We can't either.  He had such a fun time on Saturday at his birthday party.  He was a little overwhelmed by all of the people at the house, but he really enjoyed opening his presents and blowing out his candles.  I think his favorite part was when we sang Happy Birthday to him.  We think he is really going to enjoy Christmas this year!  Thank you for the cards and presents...he is a very loved little boy!! 

Today (which is Dylan's actual birthday) didn't start out so good.  Dylan woke up crying, which is very unusual for him.  He was burning up and has had a fever of about 102 all day.  The only nice thing about it is that Mom and Dad get to enjoy a lot of good cuddle time with him.  He laid on the sofa and watched Sesame Street and then took a 3+ hour nap this afternoon.  He seemed to be feeling a little better this evening and ate some dinner after skipping lunch.  If you know Dylan, you know that he rarely misses a meal.  We always know he's sick if he refuses food!  Anyhow, not a fun way to spend a birthday, but I'm sure he'll bounce back in no time.  He was asleep by 7:30 tonight, so hopefully he'll recharge overnight!

Dylan has really started enjoying the zoo more and more.  This past time he named each animal when we got to them, made their sound and then said "bye bye tiger" (or whichever animal it was) when we left them.  He was really cute, (not that he isn't cute all the time.) 

He is also getting better and better at being a big brother.  He always thinks that TJ needs her bobo (pacifier)..."TJ bobo, TJ bobo?" He says with his arms stretched out like where is it, whenever she doesn't have it in her mouth.  He could use a little bit more of a gentle touch when he puts it back in for her.  And when she is laying on the floor drooling he likes to wipe her drool off with her burp cloth...I guess he always wants her to look her best!  He likes to hold her, tickle her, kiss her and hug her...it's fun to see how much he is really starting to enjoy her as she gets older!!

Taylor had a doctor's appointment on Monday.  She was 13 lbs on the dot and 23 1/4 inches.  She's a happy, healthy baby!

Taylor rolled from her tummy to her back for the first time on Monday.  I thought maybe it was just a fluke, but she did it three times in a row today!!  I think it will still be a little while before she goes from her back to her stomach, but we are making progress!
